New York-based street artist, Aakash Nihalani, uses colored masking tape in isometric shapes to create three-dimensional works of art.

His pieces use basic geometry to create intricate designs that form optical illusions. Transforming the basic nature of the color and shapes, Nihalani’s works are a playful interpretation of everyday life.

Abstraction is created by using brightly colored square and rectangular forms and is transformed upon visual perception. Additionally, each of his installation pieces incorporates live models to further captivate the audience. The artist explains, “We all need the opportunity to see the city [New York City] more playfully…I try to create a new space within the existing space of our everyday world for people to enter freely…”

In the incredible series “Landline” the works feature two models in which his tape installation appears to shoot through their chests and yet connects them to each other.
