Pop Art and Realism Are Combined In Fantastic Paintings
Pop Realism is an artist style that incorporates both Pop Art and Realistic elements. Employing uncomplicated theology that focuses on the unsophisticated themes of every day life. Utilizing bright hues, bold lines, and hyper-realistic imagery, Robert Townsend created an incredible series of paintings inspired by popular culture.
He was heavily influence by his Southern Californian roots and the pop art legends that came before him. Extracting imagery from popular brands and logos, Townsend was inspired by artists’ Andy Warhol, Wayne Thiebaud, and Ed Ruscha. The hyperrealist techniques his works’ possess are the result of his love for Robert Bechtle’s paintings of life in the 1950s.
His works’ imitate photography but feature these down-to-earth themes of retro car culture or candy. They embody this inherent laidback mentality of California residents. His work is fun, colorful, and just sort of impossible to not enjoy.
