In the age of social media, people are highly dependent on information that comes from various social media platforms. Content is king in this day and age, and the information that you produce on your social media accounts can determine how influential you become in the social sphere. One successful tweet could mean ten to 100 to even 1000 new followers, but how is this possible? What makes a good tweet? Here are six things that make a good tweet.

1. How well does your audience relate to the tweet?

This is perhaps one of the most important things to consider when writing tweets. The point of social media is to connect with people, and your best bet is to produce copy that is as relatable as possible. This would require you to be aware of your target audience so that you will be able to use the correct language and even choose topics that are worth mentioning on your Twitter.

2. How informative is your tweet?

The purpose of marketing on Twitter is to encourage engagement with your audience, establish brand awareness, and to emerge as an influential figure in your marketplace. As a marketer on social media, there is an obligation to push out information not only about your brand, but also about the field that you’re in. Posing as an influential account that tweets informational content regularly will undoubtedly draw hoards of new followers to your account.

3. Are you using hashtags?

People outside of your social sphere will not find your content if you do not use hashtags. Hashtags organize and categorize information, so that interested individuals will find your content without hassle.

4. How relevant is your content in terms of timeliness?

Timeliness is directly connected to relevance and how relatable a tweet is to your audience. If you post something that is outdated, then you obviously are not in the loop and are therefore not the trendsetter of your market. Pay attention to trends; there is a trending topics section for that purpose. Make an effort to not be the one who posts irrelevant and outdated content.

5. Don’t obsess over viral hits

Viral content is more often than not pure luck. Don’t be a one hit wonder; work to consistently produce quality content and you will see results.

6. Are you tagging other users?

A large part of any social outlet is being social. This entails tagging relevant users in your tweets. Relevant users to your content expands reach and increases engagement or the potential your content will be engaged. Remember: engagement on Twitter means mentions, retweets, and favorites/likes.
