Surreal Drawings By Geoff McFetridge
The work of LA-based artist Geoff McFetridge has been featured in campaigns from Spike Jonze, the New York Times, Nike, The Walker Art Center, and various skateboarding brands, such as Krooked and Girl. His personal blog is riddled with some of his drawings he creates in his spare time. His drawings reflect his interpretation of the process of design, where refinement equals reduction.
Geoff's earliest memories of drawing came from his father drawing outlines of stock cars, which he would then draw the numbers and sponsor stickers. In his interview with designboom, Geoff states, “I have always felt that I am spitting back what I consume. I speak in this common language that comes out of what I was sold as a kid born in the 70s and then growing up in the 80s.”
His drawings are generally playful and appropriate for any audience. With skateboarding being a hobby of his, many of Geoff's works include people, skateboarding, and exploring the interactions with each. His artwork shares some surrealistic nuances as other artists such as Todd James and Barry McGee, but his style is completely unique.
